A Study on the Spatial–Temporal Evolution of Innovation Efficiency in Chinese Universities in the Context of the Digital Economy

With the rapid development of knowledge and digital economy, it is a crucial to understand role economy in improving innovation efficiency universities. Using panel data universities 31 Chinese provinces from 2013 2020, this paper measures regional examines impact on universities’ by employing super-efficiency DEA model along with Malmquist index, kernel density estimation Theil index. The analysis shows following: (1) has significant positive university innovation, but there still much room for improvement. (2) In terms dynamic evolution efficiency, performance trend toward declining issue inadequate investment technical discovered, which urgently needs be addressed. findings offer empirical support understanding relationship between growth productivity important ramifications innovative expansion higher education institutions emerging nations.
